Video Poker Tips
• When choosing games to play, look for the ones that offer full or near full payback percentages. If the payback is not posted then look at the chart on the machine and pick out one that pays the most for a full house and a flush. The greater the return then the higher that machine pays-out.
• It’s a good idea to play the maximum number of coins so you are eligible for the bonus payout for a royal flush. Make sure the machine has accepted all of your coins before playing so when you win the big pot you are guaranteed the best payout.
• Progressive machines are good as they pay large amounts for a royal flush and the payout is based on how difficult this is to get – approx 1 in 40,000 hands. Play progressives that show 80% of the payoff amount to increase chances of winning.
• Don't forget you’re playing a machine and it’s programmed to only payoff when a player holds one of the posted hands.
• Don't draw to an inside straight but if you have an open-ended straight then take a chance on getting a straight.
• Always keep any pair rather than a high card. Most players tend to get rid of pairs even though you have better chances of getting 3 of a kind.
• Always keep a high pair vs. a four-card open straight, a four-card flush or a three-card royal.
• Always keep a low pair over a four-card open end straight. The low pair has more value as a potential 3 of a kind.
• A three-card royal should be kept over a low pair, a four-card flush and a four card open end straight.
• Don't be afraid to draw five cards.
